Things to Pack in Your Vehicle for a Road Trip

When preparing for a road trip it can be easy to overlook things to pack. Also, things can happen that you weren’t prepared for. To help with what to pack, we’ve created this short list. Most people already have phone chargers in their vehicle and remember to pack snacks, so we’re going to keep it simple and put three items we believe to be most important. At McLarty Daniel Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Bentonville, Arkansas, we love helping out. If it’s creating a blog like this or teaching you how to save on gas, we like to share our knowledge. The first item we’ve selected is a bit more fun, your favorite CD. Now, we know that everyone uses their phone to listen to music nowadays using Bluetooth, Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, but what happens when there’s no phone signal and you didn’t download your playlist before heading out? Maybe listen to silence with your friends on a gorgeous day. Or, pop in an uninterrupted set of jams. Remember, no sleep till Brooklyn! The second item on our list is fix-a-flat. A can of fix-a-flat is like riding with a superhero. If your tire loses air it can really change the trajectory of the trip, especially if there isn’t a spare in the car. Loss of tire pressure may not even be your fault because winter weather affects tire pressure. All you do is shake the can for 30 seconds, plug the provided hose into your tire air valve and press the button. It’s that easy! It will fill your tire up enough to get to a gas station to air it up the rest of the way to get you another 3 days or 100 miles. It’s an awesome tool to get out of a tough situation. The third item is a printed map. Again, cell phones lose service and if there isn’t another form of navigation in the car, you could wind up on an undesirable detour. Sounds scary right? Not if you have a physical map. Print one out and get it laminated in case it’s raining so it doesn’t get wet, or grab one at your nearest truck stop or state welcome center. This item will be a huge lifesaver! Road trips are fun but if you forget the simplest thing your trip could come to a screeching halt. . We hope this helped and we hope you enjoy your road trip! If you live in Bentonville, Rogers, Bella Vista, Eureka Springs, Pea Ridge, Gravette, Centerton, Sulphur Springs or Jane, MO, and you’re in the market for a quality vehicle, we can help with that. Browse our full vehicle inventory to get started.

Top Three Ways To Save on Gas

If we find new ideas, new routes, new features or how to save money, we get excited and want to share them with our customers. At McLarty Daniel Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat in Springdale, Arkansas we care about you and your car. Keep reading to learn more about our gas-saving ideas. The first way is to approach stop lights and stop signs slowly. If the light is red, or the stop sign is coming up, is it really necessary to keep speeding up while you approach your stop? We suggest taking your foot off the gas pedal and coasting your way up when you see the red light or stop sign. This is a double cheat code because it could not only save you gas money, but possible future repair costs as well. Next, don’t take off so fast from the stop sign or stoplight. When you hammer down on the gas pedal you’re just dumping gas. Gradually speeding up makes better use of your gas mileage. In the end, the speed limit is the same so why hurry to just to get to the speed limit? The person behind you that accelerated slowly is going to meet you shortly after you’ve stopped accelerating so hard for the 45 mph speed limit sign. Third, check the air in your tires. If your tires are low, your vehicle has to do more work to keep them rolling. When the pressure is right, your tires can roll smoothly along and it’s easier to get moving. Think about having to pedal a bicycle with your tires low on air pressure. Or, pushing a wheelbarrow with a low tire. It’s miserable and it takes more work. Besides, It’s almost time to do spring maintenance for your vehicle anyway. These three tasks are the easiest ways to save gas and money. We appreciate our customers and we’re always here to help. If you live in Bentonville, Rogers, Bella Vista, Eureka Springs, Pea Ridge, Gravette, Centerton, Sulphur Springs or Joplin, MO, and you’re in the market for a quality vehicle, we can help with that too. browse our full vehicle inventory now.

Jeep Hacks – Volume 2

When it comes to the Wrangler and Gladiator, there are tons of small tips and tricks that can be total game changers when you learn about them. We’re talking about Jeep Hacks! We’ve started a blog series all about Jeep Hacks so you can get the most out of your Jeep. Check out our first blog, Jeep Hacks – Volume 1. We can’t wait to share them all with you because the Wrangler is one of our favorites here at McLarty Daniel Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Bentonville, Arkansas. The first Jeep Hack of Volume 2 can work on the Wrangler or the Gladiator and it sure is “cool.” In the interior of the vehicle, you’ll notice there are two middle air vents. For this hack, you’ll remove the air vent and place a water bottle, or any other beverage you want to keep cold, in the empty slot. Now, crank up your air conditioning and let your drink cool right off. The air will flow across the drink and continuously, keeping it at a low temperature. Save the money on an expensive cooler or a vehicle refrigerator because you already have one! Check out our new and used Jeep Wrangler inventory. The second Jeep Hack is specific for the Jeep Gladiator. They may have told you this when you bought your Gladiator but if not, we’re here to help. If you look at the top of your back seats you’ll notice a keyhole. If you unlock this and pull up on the black strap you can now lower your back seats and gain access to extra storage. This is a great feature because the Gladiator is meant to have the roof removed. The only issue is you’re leaving all your items vulnerable to thieves. This hack lets you remove the top and still lock stuff away for those days at the beach or while on a hike. Check out our new and used Jeep Gladiator inventory. If you’d like to learn more Jeep Wrangler Hacks, stay tuned to our blog because this is just the beginning! If you can’t wait, stop by McLarty Daniel CDJR in Bentonville, Arkansas. We serve Bentonville, Rogers, Bella Vista, Eureka Springs, Pea Ridge, Gravette, Centerton, Sulphur Springs, Joplin, MO, etc. We love tips, tricks and hacks – anything to help improve your adventures.

Jeep Hacks – Volume 1

Jeep owners aren’t your average vehicle owners. They live by rules that only a Jeeper would understand. There’s a camaraderie between one Jeep owner to the next, and it doesn’t matter if they’ve never met. Part of that camaraderie comes from customizing and tricking out your Jeep and knowing how to use it to its fullest. When it comes to the Wrangler, there are tons of small tips and tricks that can be total game changers when you learn about them. We’re talking about Jeep Hacks! We’re starting a blog series all about Jeep Wrangler (and Gladiator) Hacks so you can get the most out of your Jeep. We can’t wait to share them all with you because the Wrangler is one of our favorites here at McLarty Daniel Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Bentonville, Arkansas. Check out our new and used Jeep Wrangler inventory. The first Jeep Hack comes from Amazon and it’s a two-pack of front door cup holders. Anyone who owns a Wrangler knows storage space is limited. The doors offer mesh netting to store items but it’s not the best place for a soda can or other drinks. Modern Wranglers come with two middle cup holders, but these front door storage pockets are designed to add some additional storage. Beyond being utilized for more drinks, you can also put your utility flashlight, multi-purpose tool, tire pressure gauge, and more in these additional pockets. The second Jeep Hack is another Amazon item. This one is the back seat cup holder console. This may seem simple, but again, storage is limited in the wrangler so any extra space you can create for recovery tools or extra beverages will help. It’s super easy to install and it’s a game-changer for you and your passengers. You’re probably sick of hearing your friends complain about the lack of cup holders in your Wrangler as it is. If you’d like to learn more Jeep Wrangler Hacks, stay tuned to our blog because this is just the beginning! If you can’t wait, contact your friends at McLarty Daniel Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Bentonville, Arkansas. We love tips, tricks and hacks. Anything to help improve your adventures.

Is a Plug-In Hybrid for Me?

What is a plug-in hybrid? Plug-in hybrids (PHEV) are vehicles that use two different powertrains. The main power source for a PHEV is a rechargeable lithium battery and the secondary source is an internal combustion engine. PHEVs can run anywhere from 16-60 miles on a single battery charge. When the battery is drained of power, the vehicle will opt for the gasoline-powered engine. A great example of a plug-in hybrid is the Chrysler Pacifica. Keep reading as we at McLarty Daniel Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Bentonville, Arkansas talk about if a PHEV is worth it for you. Cost According to the American Automobile Association (AAA), our nation’s current gas price average for regular gas is $3.29. That cost adds up to hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars a year. With a PHEV you could cut that cost in half. PHEVs and hybrids cost more in the beginning, but over time the savings far exceed the overall price of the vehicle. By spending more at first you could save more in the long run. Environmentally Friendly Transportation is one of the largest sources of CO2 emissions and air pollution. When these greenhouse gasses are released, they cause a barrier that traps heat in the atmosphere which causes worldwide temperatures to rise. The nitrous oxide produced by gas and diesel-powered cars is a contribution to the depletion of our ozone layer. Our ozone layer is important because it shields the earth from the ultraviolet rays from the sun. Both of these issues are contributing to global warming. So, is a PHEV for me? This question can be answered with important factors in mind. How important it is to save money and how important is the environment to you? Our choices in these areas not only affect us, but they also affect our families and the future generations of our families. If you have any more questions, read our blog about hybrid and electric vehicles. Or, drop by McLarty Daniel Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Bentonville, Arkansas because we’d love to explain more. We serve the Bentonville, Rogers, Bella Vista, Eureka Springs, Pea Ridge, Gravette, Centerton, Sulphur Springs and Jane, MO area drivers.

How Winter Weather Affects Tire Pressure

Jack Frost isn’t only nipping at your nose this time of year. When your tires lose air pressure it isn’t because there’s a hole in your tire or a bad valve. It’s due to lower temperatures. Keep reading so we at McLarty Daniel Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Bentonville, Arkansas can break it down for you. Why does cold weather affect my tire pressure? Winter weather affects tire pressure because as air temperature drops, air is cooled to its dew point causing the air to condense. This causes your tire pressure to fall. You’ll notice as you continue to drive as the day goes on that your tire pressure will go up. That’s because as the air warms, the dew, or condensation in the tire, evaporates and turns to a vapor. This allows the air in the tires to expand. How often should I check my tire air pressure? Tire pressure is generally the lowest in the early morning because that’s the coldest temperature of the day. It can also lower after a vehicle hasn’t been driven for several hours. Over those hours the cold air has a chance to alter your vehicle’s air pressure. If you can check your tire air pressure from your vehicle’s dashboard screen, it is recommended to check your tires every time you get in the car. If you don’t, it’s a good rule of thumb to check them daily, or every other day, in the morning before you leave your house. Better safe than sorry. How much air should I put in my tires? To answer this question, check your manufacturer’s recommended tire pressure. Every vehicle manual has this information and it’s usually listed inside the driver’s door as well. If you have purchased new tires since you’ve bought your vehicle, check the tire manufacturer’s recommended tire pressure. Also, tires will usually have the numbers you’re looking for on the sidewall of your tires. Do not exceed the maximum amount of pound-force per square inch (PSI). If you still have questions, McLarty Daniel Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Bentonville, Arkansas can help! We serve Bentonville, Rogers, Bella Vista, Eureka Springs, Pea Ridge, Gravette, Centerton, Sulphur Springs and Jane, MO Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram drivers. We can run our checks and make sure you and your family are good to go and safe to drive this winter season. Check out our tire and alignment coupons if you’re looking to replace the tires you have.

Hybrid & Electric Vehicle Basics

Hybrid and electric vehicles (EV) are bringing our future into the now. Hybrids and EVs now include cars, trucks, transit buses and even some tractor-trailers that are at least partially powered by electricity. Hybrids and EVs offer high fuel efficiency and low exhaust emissions with the power, styles and convenience of our traditional gas and diesel-powered vehicles. Saving our environment is becoming more and more of a need, and the automotive industry is taking a front seat in that movement. Read more so we at McLarty Daniel Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Bentonville, Arkansas can break it down for you. What is the difference between a hybrid and an electric vehicle? Hybrids offer a gasoline or diesel engine along with an electric motor that can be charged by regenerative braking or by plugging them in. Electric vehicles operate entirely on electricity and need to be plugged in to charge the battery. One example of an electric vehicle from Jeep is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe. Learn more about the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Do you need any special equipment? The answer is no. Whichever hybrid or EV you buy will come equipped with a converter that changes standard AC power from your home outlets into the DC power needed to recharge your vehicle. This process takes a bit longer than a charging station would, but It is easily doable, especially if you charge overnight. If you would like to cut your charging time in half you could install electric vehicle service equipment (EVSE) at your home. EVSE supplies 240 volts of electricity which cuts charging time in half. The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid is a great example of a hybrid vehicle. It was even recognized as the best hybrid minivan. Learn more about how the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica was recognized as the best hybrid minivan Savings According to the American Automobile Association (AAA), our nation’s current gas price average for regular unleaded gas is $3.29. That cost adds up to hundreds of dollars a year. With a hybrid, you can cut that cost in half and with an EV you can eliminate that bill entirely. Hybrids and EVs cost more on the front end, but over time the savings far exceed the overall price of the vehicle. What does this mean for our environment? Electric cars and trucks produce cleaner emissions than gasoline or diesel vehicles. When driving, vehicle exhaust releases carbon monoxide, which threatens human life, and carbon dioxide, which is a significant contribution to global warming. If you have any more questions, McLarty Daniel Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Bentonville, Arkansas can help! We serve Bentonville, Rogers, Bella Vista, Eureka Springs, Pea Ridge, Gravette, Centerton, Sulphur Springs and Jane, MO areas. Drop in and we’d love to explain more.

Winter Car Maintenance Tips

Winter car maintenance is very important and needs to be done every year. If you don’t know what to check as we move into winter, you’ve come to the right place! We at McLarty Daniel Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Bentonville, Arkansas have created a list of tips for you. Our goal is to keep our neighbors safe and we’re happy to provide our community with tips about how to keep safe on uncertain roads. Schedule your next service The first item on your list – and what we think is most important – is to check your tires. Low tire pressure happens during the cold months so it is important to check the air pressure on a regular basis. Tires that are low on pressure can pull one way or the other which could lead to you getting pulled right off the road into a ditch. This is scary and avoidable. Fill your tires up to the cold-weather PSI (pounds per square inch) number  and you’ll be in the clear and on the road. Learn more about winter tire care and how to find the correct cold-weather PSI for your tires here on our blog! Browse our tire coupons Second, let’s chat about battery life. Could you imagine your car dying on a freezing cold night and being stuck? Not fun and again, avoidable. In the initial days of winter, the battery can deliver a reduced output with increased use of lights, heater and blower. Since the battery works harder during cold weather, it could lose power faster. Check your battery before winter officially begins so you won’t be stranded in the cold. Browse our battery coupons Lastly, check your wiper blades. Winter naturally brings more precipitation – rain, slush and even snow – in addition to less daylight. If your wiper blades are skipping or making loud scraping noises when in use, or aren’t doing their job properly anymore, it’s time to change them. Browse our parts coupons If you require maintenance or are looking to purchase a vehicle from our inventory, stop by or contact McLarty Daniel CDJR in Bentonville, Arkansas. We serve Bentonville, Rogers, Bella Vista, Eureka Springs, Pea Ridge, Gravette, Centerton, Sulphur Springs, Jane, MO, and the rest of Northwest Arkansas. We look forward to your visit!
