New Security Feature for Charger and Challenger

Dodge is doubled down with security thanks to second-level security offered for high-performance Dodge Charger and Challenger models. Late last month, Dodge announced an automotive software upgrade designed to further thwart theft of Charger and Challenger models equipped with the 392-cu.-in. Hemi V8 or the supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8 engines.

DODGE DETERRENCE: With the Dodge Challenger and Charger models that feature the Hemi V8 or the supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8 engines, Dodge offers a new Security Mode with four-digit secondary encryption that protects against auto theft. Also, the new Security Mode limits engines to idle speed. Therefore, at idle, these engines produce approximately 2.8 horsepower and 22 lb.-ft. of torque which prevents criminal police evasion and high-speed chases of stolen vehicles. 

GET PROTECTED: Don’t feel left out, there will be a no-charge retroactive upgrade available for affected 2015-2021 model-year vehicles.  Owners of 2015 through 2021 Dodge Challenger SRT or Charger SRT models equipped with 392-cu.-in. Hemi V8 or supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8 engines, as well as owners of 2019-2021 Scat Packs equipped with 392-cu.-in Hemi V8 engines, should contact our service department to schedule a free Security Mode installation appointment.
