If you’ve been a long-time fan of Ram and Dodge trucks, chances are you’re familiar with — and likely a fan of — the beautiful, factory-custom Dodge Warlock trucks built by Dodge in the late 1970s. If you ever wished you could own one of these rare machines, do we have some great news for you! Ram has announced they’re bringing the Warlock back as a special edition: the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Warlock Edition! Featuring special colors, badges, interior features and emblems, the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Warlock will be available this spring.
Built from 1976 to 1979, the original Dodge Warlock trucks were an effort to tap into the customized truck craze that was then sweeping the nation. Like somewhat similar “Lil’ Red Express” trucks built by Dodge, the Dodge Warlock pickups were mostly black with gold accents, though other colors could be special ordered. Built on both 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrains, the original Warlock trucks featured custom gold-painted wheels, bucket seats, a step-side Utiline bed, polished oak bed racks on each side, gold pinstriping and a special tailgate. Under the hood, any engine combination available from Dodge in those years could be ordered, from the famous “Slant Six” to the fearsome 440 big block that had been a staple of the 1960s Mopar muscle cars. Many of the most desirable Warlock and Lil’ Red Express trucks were fitted with a special high-output 360 “police interceptor” V8 that could skirt the performance-choking early emissions systems by virtue of being installed in a pickup truck.
The 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Warlock will carry on in the traditions of those original Warlock trucks. Based on the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic, which is a continuation of the body style used by the flagship Ram trucks between 2011 and 2018 before the all-new Ram was introduced, the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Warlock will feature a bold grille with RAM lettering, projector headlights with dark bezels, black fender flares, powder-coated front and rear bumpers, a vented sport hood, standard 20-inch alloy wheels, a factory one-inch lift, and unique “Warlock” decals on the hood and bed sides. The model will be available in any of ten base colors, including Flame Red, Pearl White, True Blue and Bright Silver Metallic. Sorry, but you’ll have to get those Superfly 1970s stripes added yourself.
“The Ram 1500 Classic Warlock is proof positive that value never goes out of style,” said Reid Bigland, Head of Ram Brand, FCA. “With its sinister monochromatic exterior, award-winning interior and great price, this mean machine is certain to resonate positively with consumers.”
Like the original Warlock trucks, the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Warlock will be available in either 4×2 or 4×4 drivetrains, and in Quad Cab or Crew Cab configurations. The Warlock will be available with either the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 producing 305 horsepower and 269 lb.-ft. of torque, or the iconic 5.7-liter Hemi V8, with 395 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft of torque.
The 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Warlock will be built at the legendary Warren Truck Assembly Plant in Warren, Michigan, which has produced over 12.5 million Dodge and Ram trucks since operations started there in 1938. Pricing for the Warlock starts at $35,345.

RUGGED, UNMISTAKABLE STYLE: With a purpose-first style that is unmistakably Jeep, the rugged 2019 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon may look similar to every Jeep CJ and Wrangler made in the past 50 years or so, but look again. All-new for 2019, the 2019 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is based on the next-generation JL model, with a wider beltline, a windshield that’s laid back a few degrees for more aerodynamics, a gently curved grille and taller and wider grille slots for an athletic, trail-ready look. What hasn’t changed are all the things that make Jeep Wranglers great, including the easy-off top and doors, which can be removed by spinning out just a few bolts with the supplied tool kit, and the lay-down windshield, for true open-air wheelin’ fun.
A NATURE-PROOF INTERIOR: Knowing that a lot of Jeep owners are going to throw everything but the kitchen sink at their Jeep Wranglers, the designers and engineers behind the 2019 Jeep Wrangler set out to build an interior that’s comfortable, connected and capable while still able to withstand all the mud, bugs, rain, snow, rocks and sticky stuff you’ll run into out on the trail. For example, the interior of the 2019 Jeep Rubicon features removable drain plugs and rubber floor mats, for hose-it-out cleaning when the mud gets a little too deep. Even so, the designers of the 2019 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon understand that you want a vehicle that’s also connected and feature packed. Stay in touch with civilization with the available Uconnect 4C NAV system, featuring an 8.4-inch touchscreen, with smartphone connectivity thanks to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
LEGENDARY CAPABILITY: The 2019 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon didn’t earn a worldwide reputation as one of the toughest factory-built trail rigs by accident. It’s all about building rugged, overbuilt, rock-solid components, and they don’t get more rugged than the drivetrain of the 2019 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. The heart of the Rubicon is the unstoppable Rock-Trac 4×4 system, which features Jeep’s toughest transfer case, heavily armored with steel skidplates and sending power to wide-track Dana 44 axles with electronic-locking differentials spinning 31 inch Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires. For extra suspension travel over uneven terrain, just hit a switch on the dash and activate the electronic front and rear swaybar disconnect. With one of the highest ground clearances of any factory-built 4×4 and an unbeatable approach angle, the 2019 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon can climb up, over and through just about anything, including fording water almost three feet deep thanks to advanced electrical sealing and a high-set air intake.

Like many automakers, Jeep has been planning a pivot toward electric and plug-in hybrid models for several years now. Early this month at the Geneva Auto Show in Switzerland, Jeep took a giant leap in that direction with the debut of Jeep Renegade and Jeep Compass prototypes featuring plug-in gas/electric hybrid drivetrains.
“Today, the Jeep brand is making another major evolutionary step toward respecting the environment and reducing the total cost of ownership by presenting its new plug-in hybrid electric vehicle models,” a release from Jeep said. “A no-compromise hybrid solution, which integrates the unmatched technical layout of each Jeep SUV, will power both the Jeep Renegade and Jeep Compass and will turn them into vehicles that provide absolute freedom while taking their capability to the next level through some of the most advanced eco-friendly technology.”
The plug-in hybrid Jeep Renegade and Compass on display in Geneva feature both a battery pack that can be recharged through a special power outlet or by a small, on-board gasoline engine that acts as a generator to supplement the battery power and recharge the battery pack while on the road. The hybrid system allows the hybrid Compass and Renegade to employ more powerful electric motors than they would be able to use on battery power alone, for a battery-only range of approximately 31 miles, and a battery-only top speed of over 80 miles per hour.
The battery pack, used in conjunction with an all-new 1.3-liter turbocharged engine, results in a combined horsepower range of between 190 to 240 horsepower in the plug-in hybrid Jeep Renegade and Compass, depending on how the hybrid system is used, with zero-to-60 times below 7 seconds thanks to the instant torque delivery by the electric motors. The result is exhilarating acceleration and responsiveness, while being whisper-quiet and environmentally friendly, with carbon dioxide emissions lower than 50 grams of CO2 per kilometer, compared to over 118 grams per kilometer for the average modern four cylinder car today.
Those who worry electrification might impede Jeep’s legendary off-road capability have nothing to worry about. Jeep promises that thanks to the greater torque offered by the electric motors and the ability to precisely adjust power output to each wheel will make for even better off-road traction, even in challenging terrain. With the new system, traction to the rear axle is not provided by a drive shaft, allowing for more effective power distribution while also negating the need for a front and rear differential, thus increasing overall ground clearance under the Jeep.
The models are the first of two Jeep plans to offer with all-electric or gas/electric hybrid powertrains by 2022. Ready to get in on the electrifying developments at America’s most rugged off-road brand? 1947–1965: Willys-Overland Jeep 4×4 Truck
Jeep wasn’t done when victory was declared in Europe and the Pacific. With American vets clamoring for the rugged capability of the plucky little Jeeps they drove in the service, Original Jeep parent company Willys-Overland introduced the Jeep CJ, a civilian version of the Jeep. It was a stunning hit, and Willys-Overland soon followed up that success in 1947 with their second product: the rugged, no-nonsense Jeep 4×4 Truck. Available as either a pickup or 4×4 station wagon, the trucks would be produced almost unchanged for 20 years.
1957–1966: Jeep FC (Forward Control)
Borrowing a flat-nosed, driver-forward look from the European Volkswagen van and truck, the Jeep FC trucks are still one of the oddest Jeep vehicles ever made, but proved very popular upon their debut in 1957. The short wheelbase, rugged components and surefooted Jeep capability made them prized by everyone from loggers to ranchers, who loved their robust 4×4 components and commanding view from the driver’s seat when crawling over rough terrain. Some versions even offered a power-take-off shaft to run farm implements that would normally be used with a tractor.
1963–1987: Jeep J-series Gladiator
The longest-running Jeep pickup ever produced, the J-series was introduced in 1963 for those who wanted a truck with a little more luxury and more options than the plain Jane Jeep 4×4 Truck we previously introduced. Featuring virtually the same doors, cowl, hood and front sheetmetal as the first generation Jeep Cherokee wagons, the Jeep J-series is one of the coolest Jeep trucks ever built. Between 1967-1969, the model even went to war again as the Kaiser Jeep M715, which featured upgraded axles, military spec bumpers and a convertible top. The J-series was eventually the first Jeep given the “Gladiator” name that has now passed to the 2020 version.
1981–1985: Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler
While the Jeep CJ models were always beloved for their off-road prowess, their ability to haul cargo left a lot to be desired. Jeep took a shot at improving upon that starting in 1981, with the longer-wheelbase Jeep CJ-8 Scambler. Featuring a five-foot pickup bed mated without a gap to the popular Jeep CJ, the model featured a rigid, lift-off half-cab and locking doors, but could also be purchased with a convertible soft top. While the bed didn’t make it a true pickup, it was a hit with those who needed more hauling capability from their Jeeps. Pristine examples are prized by collectors today.
1986–1992: Jeep Comanche
With the Jeep J-Series truck getting seriously long in the tooth by the 1980s, Jeep knew it was time for a redesign of their truck offering. The result is the Jeep Comanche, which featured a real-deal seven-foot four-inch bed, making Jeep an immediate contender in the mid-size truck market. Built on either two or four wheel drive powertrains, the Jeep Comanche features sheet metal that’s identical to the popular Jeep Cherokee Sport from the front doors forward. With Jeep’s legendarily reliable and torquey 4.0-liter inline six cylinder under the hood, it was popular, but would be the last production Jeep truck for over 25 years when the final Comanche rolled off the line in 1992.
2005: Jeep Gladiator Concept
Aftermarket companies — including Jeep performance parts supplier Mopar — jumped into the void left by the Jeep Comanche after 1992, issuing top kits that turned Jeeps into something like a truck but not quite. That was the news until 2005, when Jeep debuted the tantalizing 2005 Jeep Gladiator Concept at the Detroit Auto Show. Cribbing its design heavily from the Jeep Wrangler, the Jeep Gladiator concept was definitely the shape of things to come (14 years later), with angular rear fenders, a side-mounted spare, an expandable truck bed, and the 2.8 liter diesel from a Jeep Liberty.

2019 Ram Rebel wins Four Wheeler’s Truck of the Year! | McLarty Daniel CDJR of Bentonville

With a winning mix of design, engineering and performance, the 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel builds on the already formidable 2019 Ram 1500 4×4 to create a one-of-a-kind off-roader that looks as great on date night as is does fender deep in the mud. Since the Ram Rebel debuted last year, the critics have been taking notice, with Ram’s flagship four wheel drive package racking up awards. It’s time to make room on the mantle for another big one, with the news that Four Wheeler Magazine has awarded the 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel their prestigious Pickup Truck of the Year award after a competition that put the Ram Rebel head-to-head with the competition in a punishing series of tests.
Building on the beautiful styling of the 2019 Ram 1500, the 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel ups the ante and the attitude with features like a factory lift or optional air suspension that can raise the ground clearance at the touch of a button, factory 33-inch tires, a locking rear axle, off-road shocks by iconic racing supplier Bilstein, a full complement of heavy steel skid plates underneath, frame-mounted tow hooks to help extract lesser rigs from the muck, and more.
For over 30 years, the staff of Four Wheeler Magazine has been selecting their pickup truck of the year with a week-long event in which models from every major automaker are tested in real world conditions, with a panel of seven judges driving each truck over 1,000 miles in everything from deep mud to stop-and-go traffic. Trucks in the competition are judged on not only for the ease-of-use and off-road capability of their four wheel drive running gear, but also in categories like comfort, handling, ride quality, performance, fuel economy, towing and hauling and more. When all was said and done, the 2019 Ram Rebel was judged King of the Mountain.
“The entire 2019 Ram lineup is impressive,” said Four Wheeler group content director Sean Holman, “but what the company was able to do when confronted with the task of developing a competitive off-road package leaves little to be desired. Starting with a stiff chassis, skid plates, electrically-activated rear locker, 33-inch Goodyear Duratrac tires, tow hooks and a stellar implementation of Bilstein shocks means that the Rebel is a willing and ready trail companion right out of the box. Add to that the Ram’s benchmark interior, supple ride and incredible technology and the Rebel is an everyday driver that isn’t afraid to go adventuring on the weekends.”
“The Ram Rebel is the rugged extreme of the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 lineup, and this award from Four Wheeler magazine recognizes Rebel’s combination of capability, design and durability,” said Reid Bigland, Head of Ram Brand. “We worked hard to deliver something unique with the Rebel, and it’s a proud feeling when a leading off-road enthusiast publication stands behind it as their Pickup Truck of the Year.”
Want to see what all the fuss is about? Then stop in today at McLarty Daniel Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram for a test drive of the incredible, award-winning 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel. Whether you’re looking for a beautiful truck or an unstoppable off-roader that can get you out past the pavement to find your own adventure, you can have it all in the 2019 Ram Rebel. Since the days when the first, plucky Jeeps rolled into battle in World War II, Jeep has been winning fans and a cultlike following with a great mix of purpose-first design, crowbar-tough engineering and go-anywhere capability. The Jeep trophy case has become rather crowded over the years, and now they’ll have to find room for another big award. Recently, Four Wheeler Magazine named the all-new 2019 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon as the winner of the publication’s coveted 2019 SUV of the Year award!
Newly redesigned from the ground up, the 2019 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is the ultimate expression of factory Jeep off-road gear, featuring 31-inch all-terrain tires and raised and widened fender flares. That’s on top of the 2019 Jeep Wrangler JL’s numerous body tweaks, including taller and wider grille slots, a grille shell that’s sloped backward for better aerodynamics, a wider beltline than the previous Wrangler, and a windshield that’s leaned back by five degrees over the Wrangler JK.
Underneath, the 2019 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is packed with unstoppable engineering, including standard Dana 44 locking wide track axles, Jeep’s Rock-Trac running gear, and electronic front and rear swaybar disconnect for the ultimate in suspension articulation when the trail gets rough. All new for 2019 is a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine with the revolutionary eTorque mild-hybrid system, which stores energy to deliver a boost of low-end power directly to the crankshaft when the system senses a need for more torque.
“The Wrangler Rubicon is packed full of innovation and technology,” said Sean Holman, group content director for Four Wheeler, “fully modernizing the Jeep experience, yet capability, comfort and user-friendliness have only been improved upon. This is one of those rare instances where a company got something so right, you can have your cake and eat it, too. It is a truly modern interpretation of the Wrangler without any dilution to the formula of what a Jeep should be.”
Selected by a panel of Four Wheeler editors, the SUV of the Year was chosen after a week-long torture test of SUV models from all major automakers, with the panel of judges running tests that covered over 1,000 miles in varied terrain including dirt, rocks, sand, mud, snow and city traffic, at elevations ranging from sea level to over 9,000 feet. Each SUV was evaluated on criteria including interior visibility from the driver’s seat, four-wheel-drive capability and performance, ease of use, factory tire durability and grip, ride quality, handling, interior comfort and road feel. In addition the judges considered factors like overall price, suspension articulation, fuel economy and more. When the punishing barrage of testing was over, the 2019 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon came out as king of the mountain.
“Our all-new Jeep Wrangler has been improved in every way,” said Tim Kuniskis, head of the Jeep Brand for parent company FCA. “We are thrilled the Four Wheeler editors have honored the pillar of our brand with this important award. Jeep Wrangler is the original SUV and has long been the most capable vehicle on the planet. This new Wrangler is completely refined, with more fuel-efficient powertrains, dramatically improved on-road driving dynamics, and an array of advanced technology, connectivity and safety features that make it a pleasure to drive every day – on the road or trail.”
Built for adventure, the 2019 Jeep Wrangler JL is not only the SUV of the Year, it’s the best Wrangler Jeep has ever Make! Don’t believe us? Then don’t take our word for it! New Year’s Eve is fast approaching, and that means it’s time to make those New Year’s Resolutions you’re hoping to still be keeping by the time the Easter flowers emerge from the soil. From promises to work out more to pledges to eat sugar less, New Year’s Resolutions are the most frequently made — and broken — vows we make throughout the year. There are, however, a few New Year’s Resolutions that you shouldn’t backslide on: those that relate to your car care and maintenance. Regular maintenance is a great way of making sure your four-wheeled friend is able to stick around longer, providing you with trouble-free service.
Accordingly, read on for 7 Vehicle-Related New Year’s Resolutions that everybody should commit to following all year. And if your current ride is beyond all help, or you’re just looking for a new car, truck, van or SUV to pamper, come see us at McLarty Daniel Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram!
1) I Will Find My Owner’s Manual And Read It: Nobody knows your vehicle like the company that built it, and they put that Owner’s Manual in the glove compartment for a reason. From proper tire pressure to factory-suggested maintenance intervals to the reinforced places underneath where you should put a jack while changing a flat tire, the Owner’s Manual is your key to making sure your vehicle is around to get you there and back for a long, long time.
2) I Will Teach Myself How to Do Automotive Detailing: While a quick car wash and vacuum of the interior is a good way to keep your vehicle looking minty fresh, after awhile, the normal wear, tear, grease and grime of driving can and will take their toll. That’s when a careful, thorough auto detailer can really bring your vehicle back to like-new condition with the automotive equivalent of a day at the spa. The tricks detailers use aren’t magic. You can learn them! If you have the patience, there’s dozens of videos on Youtube where auto detailers share the tricks of the trade to keep your vehicle looking great.
3) I Will Not Eat In My Car: While the convenience of a little drive-up dinner is always tempting, and cup holders are there for a reason, nothing will age your car quicker than eating inside it on a regular basis. From crumbs to salt to greasy hands, food is messy stuff and every time you and your passengers chow down on the road, you’re risking a mustard splotch, gooey handprint or glob of ice cream on the upholstery, not to mention making the interior smell like a Burger King or worse. So do yourself a favor and take 30 minutes to stop, get out, and eat. You’ll thank yourself down the road, when your car doesn’t have a scent more befitting a garbage truck. .
4) I Will Regularly Get My Vehicle Washed and Waxed: Mother Nature is always trying to turn your beautiful car, truck, van or SUV into a filthy and rusted wreck. Don’t help her out! By getting your car’s exterior washed and waxed on a regular schedule, not only are you helping it look great, you’re washing off dirt, grime, grit, bug guts and plant sap that can permanently micro-scratch, etch or oxidize your car’s paint, chrome and alloy components if left to sit on the surface for too long. In addition, a nice coat of wax helps your car’s paint and trim more easily shed dirt, splattered bugs and even the occasional paint splash from road work.
5) I Will Rotate My Tires in Accordance With the Manufacturer’s Recommendations: While nobody wants to spend thirty minutes in the tire shop every 5,000 to 10,000 miles, if you want to make sure you get the most out of your very expensive tires, you have to rotate them regularly. Tires are much better than they were even a few decades ago, but they’re not magic. Rotating your tires in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations not only makes sure they wear evenly, it can also give your tire shop pros a chance to catch unseen sidewall damage that could lead to a catastrophic blowout on the freeway. That could save your life.
6) I Will Regularly Check My Oil: It’s foolhardy to drive your vehicle like the hood is welded shut and hope for the best. Unforeseen things can and do happen, and even a brand new car can have a situation where it’s leaking oil. Wait 5,000 miles until your next oil change with a pinhole leak that’s bad enough, and you’ll starve your engine for oil. That’s when things get expensive. Keep the gremlins at bay by remembering to check your oil every other time you fill up. If you don’t know how, check your owner’s manual. While there’s every chance in the world your oil level will be right on the money, checking is free insurance against the curve balls life can throw at your engine, allowing you to catch problems while they’re still minor and can be easily fixed.
7) I Will Buy A Tire Pressure Gauge and Learn To Use It: Again, tire technology these days is light years beyond where it was just a few years back, but in order to function properly and safety, your tires must be properly inflated. Though many newer cars have a low tire pressure warning light, at that point you have to figure out which tire is the culprit. That’s where an accurate tire gauge comes in. Tire pressure fluctuates throughout the year based on the temperature outside and how much driving you’re doing. If your tires are over- or under-inflated, it can severely compromise the mileage you can expect to get out of them and potentially even put your safety at risk. So buy a tire pressure gauge and learn to use it. It’s easy! Whether you choose an analogue or digital pressure gauge, they’re cheap, and checking tire pressure literally takes seconds.
By following these few simple resolutions, you can help your vehicle last longer and drive stronger, helping your ride give you thousands of miles of happy, trouble-free service. If you’re resolved to get a new vehicle in the coming year, stop in soon at McLarty Daniel CDJR of Bentonville, where our great selection and honest deals will make you a friend and customer for life! Check out our big selection online right now! And from your friends in the car business at McLarty Daniel Auto Group, we wish you all the best in 2019.
