Kings River Falls
Near Boston, Arkansas

Though it’s only about 50 miles long from source to end, the Kings River in Madison and Carroll counties is one of the great natural jewels of northwest Arkansas. Fed by pentiful springs in the area, the Kings River includes one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the state, the graceful, multi-spouted Kings River Falls near Boston. The river and land around the falls is so lovely that back in 1971, it was declared it the Kings River Falls Nature Area to protect the spot. It’s a great place to swim, contemplate, or just drink in the beauty of Northwest Arkansas.

Buffalo National River

A favorite for summertime camping, hiking, swimming and canoeing, the pristine beauty of the Buffalo River was so legendary that a plan to damn it to create a reservoir and lake in the 1960s was met with public resistance so fierce that it led to its designation as the Buffalo National River in 1972. America’s first National River, the Buffalo flows freely its entire length, making it one of only a handful of unobstructed rivers still remaining in the continental U.S. The crystal clear, spring fed river has something for every kind of nature lover, from giant limestone bluffs, to rapids, to gravel beaches, to deep, calm swimming holes.

Hawksbill Crag, A.K.A. Whitaker Point
Near Ponca, Arkansas

Offering one of the most spectacular vistas in all of Northwest Arkansas, Whitaker Point, also known as Hawksbill Crag, is a single limestone point that juts majestically out over the abyss near Ponca, with a drop of hundreds of feet to the valley below. It’s understandably a favorite for romantic kisses and wedding proposals, especially during the spectacular sunsets available to the west and during the fall colors. Be careful, though: when you’re on the point there’s literally nothing that stands between you and a Wile E. Coyote splat other than thin air.

The natural bridge at Alum Cove Geologic Area
Near Jasper, Arkansas

There are several “natural bridges” in Arkansas: rock formations that, through wind, rain and natural weathering over millions of years, have become natural arches. One of the most spectacular natural bridges in the state can be found at Alum Cove Geologic Area near Jasper. Once a quartz sandstone cave, at some point over the eons, the roof of the cave collapsed, leaving the massive opening arch, which is 130 feet long and 20 feet wide, There are guardrails along the edges of the natural bridge at Alum Cove, so visitors can actually walk across it safely. From the highway, you’ve got to hike an easy trail for about a half-mile to view the arch, so bring your hiking boots.

Beckham Creek Cave Lodge
Near Parthenon, Arkansas

Let’s call this a natural wonder thanks to a collaboration between man and Mother Nature. Built in 1984 inside a naturally occurring limestone cave as a shelter against an apocalypse Celestial Seasonings Tea Company millionaire John Hays felt was sure to come, the Beckham Creek Cave Lodge is the only space inside a cave in Arkansas that’s available for rent by the night. This is not “Flintstones” cave, either, luxury accommodations include an upper level sitting room, a fully stocked kitchen, Jacuzzi tub and a heliport. Break your piggybank, though: rates start at $1,200 per night.

An important thing to consider when you’re thinking about buying a RAM Truck is the kind of wheels it will have. Usually, you will have two great options to choose from and McLarty Daniel Bentonville is here
to help you decide.

So, how exactly does one decide between a 17-inch argent steel wheel and a 17-inch aluminum wheel? Well, it depends on what kinds of activities you plan on doing in your pickup. If you’re truck is going to be
used for mostly on-road activities, like traveling, the best choice is aluminum. This lightweight wheel is strong and resistant to corrosion. They’re not recommended for off-roading or towing heavy loads, and they’re available on RAM 2500 and 3500 dual rear wheel trucks, as well as Tradesmen, Outdoorsman, and
SLT trim levels. The 18-inch steel wheel offers the same benefits on a larger scale.

The 17-inch argent steel wheels are great for off-roading and hauling heavy loads. They come with improve malleability and strength to prevent chipping and resist bending and wobble. Their small size
offers plenty of room for big off-road tires, and they’re the real “workhorse” of the RAM wheel lineup.

If you want your wheels to be noticed when you’re driving around town, choose the stunning RAM 20-inch aluminum wheels. However, they can have some impact on ride quality, performance and handling. RAM has downplayed this effect with its four-corner air suspension on the RAM 1500, making the difference between 20-inch and smaller wheels almost nonexistent.

If you have any questions feel free to ask the experts at our RAM parts and accessories center. Or you can contact McLarty Daniel – Bentonville by phone or just swing by our convenient Bentonville, AR location.

It’s been nearly three decades since Chrysler brought the minivan to it’s line up. While this type of family-friendly vehicle is well known today, thirty years ago the idea was relatively new. Of course we’re talking about the Town & Country. To honor the occasion, the automaker is releasing special edition models for all of us in Bentonville, AR to enjoy, and get plenty of use out of.

We will see both the Chrysler Town & Country and its Dodge counterpart – the Grand Caravan – with 30th Anniversary Editions for the 2014 model year. Both of these vans will have standard features including a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 that produces 283 horsepower, along with 17-inch aluminum wheels. Chrysler will take the celebratory editions a step further with additional trims including the SE, with an interior with piano-black, silver-accent stitching, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, plus chrome switchgear and available satellite radio. On the SXT, there are suede and leatherette seats, a 10-way power driver’s seat, and more chrome accents.

Needless to say, it will be impressive, and show us that the minivan has come a long way since it first arrived on the scene.

To test drive a Town & Country or Grand Caravan today just stop by McLarty Daniel Bentonville. We’d be
happy to continue the conversation, and provide you with all the details on the spacious and versatile vehicle. We can share with you all the specs and features of other popular new Chrysler models as well, like the 300 sedan, answer any questions you might have, and arrange test drives.

The Jeep Wrangler is without a doubt, one of the off road brands most popular models. However, with the increasing need to produce vehicles that offer drivers better fuel economy, Chrysler is considering make some alterations to the iconic Jeep to help it achieve that goal.

As of this blog post, the Wrangler gets an average of 21 miles per gallon, and in order for it to adhere to Corporate Average Fuel Economy Standards (CAFÉ), it needs to increase that number. AutoPacific Inc.
analyst Dave Sullivan says that, “There’s nothing that’s going to be immune from the wrath of CAFE as we move forward. The Wrangler is a very high volume vehicle so it’s definitely going to have an [e]ffect on CAFE. They’re going to wait as long as possible before they have to make those changes, but that being said they have a whole arsenal of things they can do.”1

That could mean that more hydrogen and electric vehicles are in the future for the Jeep brand. Since it will be a government requirement for all vehicles across a company’s model lineup to have an average fuel economy of 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025, we may see these alternative fuels make an appearance sooner than later.

For now though, these are just rumors. As the CAFÉ standards requirements come closer and closer to becoming mandatory, we’ll be reporting on the changes to the new Jeep lineup available here at McLarty Daniel – Bentonville.

This summer, the X Games has been spanning the globe showcasing the best of the best in adventure sports. While it might seem like it’s just for skateboarders, there’s much more, including vehicles of the
four- and two-wheeled variety. Today, we’d like to discuss the latter category as Dodge was involved in capturing a podium finish at X Games Los Angeles.

Moto X made its return to the X games for the first time since 2010, and Dodge, partnered with Suzuki motorbikes saw their entry take home the silver medal in the final. It was a pretty exciting race to watch,
as the Dodge bike had the lead for most on the tight and complicated track, which was housed in the Staples Center in LA, and fitted with big jumps, rollers and whoops sections.

With 12 riders vying for X Games glory, it certainly is a track where riders must be aggressive and defensive at the same time, and that made for a pretty gnarly scene.

We were definitely impressed by it at McLarty Daniel – Bentonville, and though we don’t have motorbikes in our showroom, the new Dodge lineup certainly has loads of appeal. Models like the Dart (a X Games RallyCross participant) and Charger have plenty of zip and are fun to drive on the open
road.

To learn more, stop in and see us in our Bentonville, AR showroom today. Our team is happy to provide you with all the necessary details, answer questions, and arrange test drives at your convenience.

American automaker Chrysler recently added to its support of the United States’ economy be revealed its almost completely 425,000-square-foot paint facility next to its current Sterling Heights, MI Assembly Plant. The paint plant is the automaker’s first in over two decades, and it’s a great sign of what the company has accomplished over the past few years.

Only a few years ago, many American automakers were in trouble during the recession. In fact, the Sterling plant was slated to close in 2010. Now, however, it’s adding the new paint plant onto the current
building, and the project is 85 percent complete. Chrysler officials have stated that the new facility is “spotless,” and they expect it to stay that way after operations begin.

Though the Sterling plant next door currently builds the Dodge Avenger and Chrysler 200, the company won’t say which vehicles will be painted next door, stating that it’s top secret at the moment.

450 people will receive jobs at the new plant, and the vehicles painted there will undergo three phases of paint work. First, they’ll receive a base coat, then a micro coat and then a clear coat.

you may remember earlier this year hearing about the possibility of a diesel powered RAM truck making its way to the showroom floor here at Landers-McLarty. Well the time has come and the 2014 RAM 1500 is here with the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 that also powered the diesel version of the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The diesel powered 1500 will offer drivers 240 horsepower and 420 pound feet of torque, which compared to the Hemi V8 may appear to be low, but fear not. The diesel 1500 is fully capable of producing the same towing ability as the V8, with the added benefit of increased fuel efficiency. Hard numbers on the fuel economy have not been released, but we’ll be sure to post them right here when they are.

Pricing for the RAM 1500 V-6  EcoDiesel will be an additional $2,850 on top of the $25,395 base price. Bringing the total of the diesel 1500 to  $28,245.

If you’re looking for a more traditional fuel powered truck, you can also opt for the 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 engine or the Pentastar V6 engine, all of which come with an 8 speed automatic transmission.

Make sure to stay connected to our blog for all the latest updates on RAM trucks and any diesel variants that will be available. Or to see the new RAM trucks available in the Bentonville area stop into Landers-Mclarty at 2609 S Walton Blvd.

In light of the Jeep Grand Cherokee model’s recent victory at the Vehicle Satisfaction Awards, we thought we’d go over five of our favorite reasons to drive the popular vehicle.

  1. Capability: Living up to its heritage, the iconic SUV is well-equipped to take you wherever you want to go. The available electronic limited-slip differential will give you extra traction on tricky surfaces. Plus, you’ve got Selec-Speed control to help you climb steep ascents, and to keep your throttle
    low when you’re descending.
  2. Versatility: You can equip your Grand Cherokee with three different engine options. Get it with the
3.0-liter EcoDiesel for a hearty 240hp and a huge 30 mpg on the highway. One notch up, the 3.6-liter Pentastar gives you 290hp, 260 lb-feet of torque and still hits 25 mpg on the highway. If you really need a kick under the hood, then the 5.7-liter V8 is your best bet. With 390 lb-ft of torque and 360hp this power plant is sure to get you the boost you’re after.
  3. Refinement: Get comfortable and choose one of three leather options for your heated seats. Take
in your surroundings with a dual-paneled sliding glass moonroof. And don’t forget to personalize the cabin with your preferred interior styling.
  4. Technology: The Uconnect center touchscreen gives you a navigation system and access to your
vehicle’s controls. Plus, you can stay connected safely with hands-free calling, voice activated command, and text message reader.
  5. Convenience: You’ve got an SUV for a reason so take advantage of the 68 cubic feet of cargo space
as often as you can. The power lift gate pitches in when your hands are full and the 60/40 folding rear row will give you more storage room when you really need it.

So those are five of our favorites here at Landers-McLarty, but the list goes on and on. Stop by our new

The wait for the revamped Chrysler 200 is winding down and here at Landers-McLarty, we just can’t wait to see what the American manufacturer has come up with this time.

We’ve been big fans of the new 200 since its last refresh, but based upon all the buzz we’ve been hearing lately, this update is going to make quite a splash. Since the luxury sedan has yet to debut, you might be wondering where all that chatter is coming from. Well, Chrysler took a really unique approach to this particular release.

Prior to coming out with the new model nationally, they selected a small group of dealerships and gave them a sneak peak at the 200. Apparently, things have well so far. In fact, the dealers seem to be thrilled with the results.

After seeing the new model, Chrysler dealer David Kelleher told The Detroit News, “The new 200 is a complete home run. It’s got that strength of a very, very expensive European sedan… but it’s
definitively American.”1.

So when can we expect to see this new Chrysler for ourselves?

Well, we can’t be sure, but the smart money is on January. That’s when the annual Detroit Auto Show takes place and it would make perfect sense for Chrysler to unveil the all-new 200 in front of a hometown
crowd. Until then, we’ll be sure to keep you well-informed right here on our blog.

So while the updated 200 might not be at our Bentonville, AR dealership yet, at least now we know to expect a hit.
