One must-visit spot is Cannon Beach, famous for its iconic Haystack Rock. Drive south to explore the scenic viewpoints and hiking trails at Cape Perpetua, where you can see the dramatic Thor’s Well and Spouting Horn. The Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area is another highlight, offering miles of sandy dunes where you can take your Jeep off-roading.

RAM truck

Ram trucks are renowned for their robust towing and hauling capabilities, making them the go-to choice for many who need powerful workhorses. However, towing and hauling, especially significant loads, require more than just raw power; it demands careful preparation and awareness of safety procedures. Whether you’re towing a boat for a weekend at the lake or hauling heavy equipment to a job site, here are essential tips every Ram truck owner should know.

Understanding Your Ram’s Towing Capacity

Before you hitch anything to your Ram, it’s crucial to understand its towing capacity. This is the maximum amount your truck can safely tow and varies between models and configurations. Exceeding this weight can lead to significant mechanical failures and pose safety risks. Check your owner’s manual or the Ram Trucks website for specifics about your model. Additionally, confirm your trailer and hitch can also handle the weight you plan to tow.

Proper Hitching Techniques

Using the right hitch is critical. There are several types of hitches, including bumper pull, fifth wheel and gooseneck. Each type has a specific use and weight limit. Ensure the hitch is compatible with your truck’s towing capabilities and is correctly installed. Always double-check that the trailer is securely attached to the hitch, and make sure all locking mechanisms are engaged. Safety chains should be crossed under the trailer tongue to prevent the tongue from dropping to the ground if the hitch fails.

Explore Our Ram Truck Inventory

Balancing the Load

Balancing the load on your trailer can prevent many towing issues. Load heavier items at the front of the trailer, near the hitch. This placement helps distribute weight to the front axle of the truck and maintains stability and control. Make sure the load is evenly distributed from side to side and secured to prevent shifting during transport, which could cause the trailer to sway dangerously.

Braking and Handling

Towing a lot of weight affects your vehicle’s handling and braking. Anticipate a longer stopping distance and start slowing down earlier than usual. Avoid sudden stops and sharp turns, which can cause the trailer to sway or jackknife. It’s also a good idea to invest in a trailer brake controller, which integrates the trailer’s braking system with the truck’s for smoother, more effective braking.

Five Ways the Ram 1500 Makes Towing Safer and Easier

Using Tow Mirrors

Visibility is paramount when towing. If your trailer is wider than your Ram truck, standard mirrors may not provide sufficient visibility. Extendable Ram truck tow mirrors are available for better side views to safely monitor traffic and manage the trailer’s position on the road.

Regular Maintenance Checks

Before setting out, always conduct a thorough check of your truck and trailer. This includes inspecting the tire pressures, ensuring all lights work correctly, and confirming that the brakes are functioning both on your truck and the trailer. Regular maintenance of your Ram, such as checking fluid levels and the condition of the brakes and suspension system, is also essential, especially when frequently towing heavy items.

Practicing Safe Driving Habits

Looking for tips for towing a trailer? Driving with a trailer requires a more cautious approach. Maintain a safe speed—generally, it’s recommended not to exceed 55 mph when towing. Keep a safe distance from other vehicles, as more space is needed to stop safely. Use lower gears when traveling on steep grades to maintain power and reduce brake wear.

Planning Your Route

Plan your route ahead of time, considering the size of the load and the roads you will be traveling. Avoid routes with narrow roads, low bridges or tight turns. Be aware of weather conditions, and avoid towing during high winds or heavy rain, which can make towing more dangerous.

Ram trucks are built to handle tough tasks, but effective towing and hauling require careful preparation and adherence to safety practices. By understanding your vehicle’s capabilities and following these tips, you can make sure your towing experiences are both safe and successful. Whether you’re an experienced tower or a newcomer to hauling heavy loads, taking the time to prepare adequately will make all the difference on the road.

When it comes to iconic American muscle cars, few names evoke as much excitement as the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger. Both vehicles offer exhilarating performance, head-turning style, and a rich heritage that spans decades. But if you’re torn between these two powerhouse options, it’s essential to understand the differences and determine which one is the best fit for your driving preferences and lifestyle. In this blog post, we’ll compare the Dodge Challenger vs. Dodge Charger across various categories to help you make an informed decision.

Performance

One of the most significant factors to consider when choosing between the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger is performance. Both cars offer a range of powerful engine options, from the standard V6 to the monstrous V8s found in high-performance models like the Challenger Hellcat and Charger Scat Pack. The Challenger typically edges out the Charger in straight-line acceleration, thanks to its lighter weight and more aggressive tuning. However, the Charger’s sedan body style offers better handling and practicality for everyday driving, making it a compelling choice for those who prioritize a balance of power and versatility.

Dodge Charger’s Coolest Performance Features

Design

Another key consideration is design, as both the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger boast bold and aggressive styling that pays homage to their muscle car heritage. The Challenger’s retro-inspired looks harken back to the classic muscle cars of the 1970s, with its long hood, wide stance, and iconic split grille. On the other hand, the Charger’s four-door sedan layout offers a more modern interpretation of the muscle car formula, with sleek lines, a sculpted profile, and an imposing presence on the road. Ultimately, choosing between the two comes down to personal preference and whether you prefer the classic two-door coupe or the practicality of a four-door sedan.

The End of an Era

Interior Comfort and Features

When it comes to interior comfort and features, both the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger offer spacious cabins with plenty of room for passengers and cargo. However, the Charger’s sedan body style gives it an edge in terms of practicality, with more rear-seat legroom and easier access to the back seats. Additionally, the Charger offers a range of modern amenities, including available touchscreen infotainment systems, smartphone integration, and advanced driver assistance features. While the Challenger’s interior is more focused on performance, with a driver-centric layout and retro-inspired design cues, it still offers a comfortable and well-equipped driving environment.

Price and Value

Finally, price and value are crucial factors to consider when comparing the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger. Generally, the Challenger tends to be slightly more expensive than the Charger due to its coupe body style and higher-performance variants. However, both cars offer excellent value for the money, with robust engines, engaging driving dynamics, and unmistakable style that sets them apart from the competition. Ultimately, choosing between the two comes down to your budget, driving preferences, and what you value most in a performance car.

Stop by McLarty Daniel for a Test Drive

In the battle between the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger, there’s no clear winner – it all depends on your priorities and preferences as a driver. If you crave raw power and classic muscle car styling, the Challenger may be the perfect choice for you. However, if you need a more practical daily driver with four doors and enhanced handling, the Charger could be the better option. Whichever model you choose, you’re sure to enjoy the exhilarating performance, head-turning looks, and timeless appeal that come standard with every Dodge performance car.

Halloween is just around the corner, and while you might be busy preparing your costume and decorating your home with ghostly figures, it’s essential not to forget about something even scarier – neglecting your vehicle’s maintenance. At McLarty Daniel Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Bentonville, Arkansas, we’re here to help you keep your car in top-notch condition, so you don’t have to deal with any automotive hauntings.

The Ghostly Consequences of Neglect

Imagine driving down a dark, deserted road on a chilly October night when suddenly, your car’s engine starts making eerie noises, and the dashboard lights flicker like there’s a ghost. It’s a situation no one wants to find themselves in, and it’s precisely the kind of scenario that can happen when you neglect car maintenance.

The Haunting of Unchecked Fluids: Just like a vampire needs blood to survive, your vehicle requires various fluids to function correctly. Brake fluid, engine oil, transmission fluid and coolant are the lifeblood of your car. Neglecting to check and replace these fluids can lead to a range of frightening issues, from overheating to brake failure.

The Phantom Tire Blowout: Picture this: you’re driving down a winding, dimly lit road when suddenly, you hear a loud bang, and your vehicle swerves out of control. This spine-chilling experience can be the result of neglected tire maintenance. Worn-out tires with low tread or improper inflation can lead to dangerous blowouts, turning your peaceful drive into a nightmare.

The Dreaded Dead Battery: There’s nothing more terrifying than the silence that follows when you turn the key in the ignition, and your car refuses to start. A dead battery can leave you stranded in the most inopportune places, turning your Halloween night into a real horror show.

Schedule Maintenance Service

The Witching Hour: Preventive Car Maintenance

But fear not! Just as you wouldn’t enter a haunted house without a flashlight, you can avoid these automotive nightmares with regular car maintenance. Here are some essential maintenance tasks to keep the automotive ghouls at bay:

Regular Fluid Checks: Schedule routine checks of your car’s fluids, ensuring they are at the proper levels and free from contaminants. This can prevent overheating, engine damage and brake failure, giving you peace of mind on the road.

Tire Inspections: Don’t let your tires become the ghosts of your vehicle. Regularly inspect your tires for signs of wear, and ensure they are properly inflated. This not only prevents blowouts but also improves fuel efficiency and handling.

Battery Testing: Have your vehicle’s battery tested regularly to ensure it’s in good health. A weak battery is more likely to fail in cold weather, so it’s especially important as we head into the colder months.

Brake Maintenance: Your brakes are your car’s first line of defense against accidents. Regular brake inspections and maintenance can prevent brake failure and keep you safe.

Scheduled Service: Don’t wait for strange noises or warning lights to appear. Follow your vehicle’s recommended maintenance schedule. At McLarty Daniel Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Bentonville, we offer comprehensive service packages to keep your vehicle running smoothly.

It’s back to school time, and parents, we wrote this just for you. It’s hard to decide exactly which vehicle should be your choice for your student’s school adventures. Will you choose a trustworthy sedan, a tried-and-true truck or a trendier SUV that’s a mix of both? Once you figure that out, you can start narrowing down your make and model options. It’s one of the hardest decisions to make, so we’ve narrowed it down for you. One of our best-selling and most reliable SUVs is the Dodge Durango. It makes a great choice for keeping your family safe, but at the same time, your young driver certainly doesn’t have to sacrifice style. Peace of mind is what you deserve with a new driver, and this vehicle is safety at its finest.

The Dodge Durango has earned a reputation for reliability. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the 2023 Dodge Durango an overall safety rating of four out of five stars, with five stars in the side crash test and four stars in the frontal crash test. Rear-wheel-drive models earned four stars in the rollover test, while all-wheel-drive models received three stars. Read more and discover the best of what the Dodge Durango has to offer, and know that your family is in good hands.

Learn More About the Dodge Durango

Rear Cross Path Detection

Expect the Dodge Durango to tow with ease and even beat some sports cars off the line. But if we’re talking reliability, in 2022, it added the safety feature of Rear Cross Path Detection (RCP) that truly sets it apart. Especially when you’re navigating all of the commotion around school parking lots and buildings. The Rear Cross Path feature is intended to aid the driver when backing out of parking spaces where their vision of oncoming vehicles may be blocked. RCP monitors the rear detection zones on both sides of the vehicle for objects that are moving toward the side of the vehicle with a minimum speed of approximately 3 mph to objects moving a maximum of approximately 20 mph, such as in parking lot situations.

How is the driver alerted? When RCP is on, and the vehicle is in reverse, the driver is alerted by both visual and audible alarms, including reducing the radio volume. This is a great way to notify young drivers who usually have music turned up while driving.

Adaptive Cruise Control

The 2023 Dodge Durango allows the driver to set a cruising speed at a safe distance from other vehicles before it automatically adjusts its speed to maintain that distance. This Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) feature is perfect for college students who frequently drive back home on the weekends to see family and friends. Part of this safety system also includes a forward collision warning that alerts the driver if the vehicle in front of the car is too close and includes automatic braking when necessary. And sometimes those weekend drives aren’t necessarily home, but just for fun. ACC allows you to feel safe and secure knowing your driver has these special alerts.

Airbag Protection

Airbags are a safety essential to keep everyone safe in the event of an accident. The Dodge Durango’s airbags are designed to deploy to minimize the risk of injury to occupants. The comprehensive airbag system includes dual-stage front airbags, side-curtain airbags and front-row side airbags. The airbag system is designed to protect occupants from various impacts in a collision, including frontal, side-impact, and rollover accidents. What’s more, the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) feature is a critical safety feature that helps the Dodge Durango maintain its grip on the road. It uses sensors to detect when the vehicle is veering off its intended path, such as when it oversteers or understeers when navigating a turn.

Unless you’ve been under a rock these past few months, there’s a new Barbie movie rolling into theaters this summer. Because of the movie, all things Barbie are new again, and people are rediscovering Barbie’s past. Besides Ken, what’s Barbie’s one accessory we all wish we had? The Barbie Jeep, of course! Take one of our Jeeps out for a spin at McLarty Daniel Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Bentonville.

Get Your Dream Jeep Wrangler from McLarty Daniel CDJR

Barbie, of course, lives in her dream house and drives her famous rides, in particular, the Jeep Wrangler. So this begs the question — when did the Barbie Jeep become a thing? And why are we so obsessed with it? Let’s take a drive down memory lane and look at the history of Barbie and her connection with Jeep and other cars, trucks, SUVs and vans.

Barbie first made her debut in 1959, created by Ruth Handler, who wanted an alternative to baby dolls. Her philosophy behind Barbie was that through the doll, a little girl could be anything she wanted to be and that she has choices. And choices she made. Over the years, Barbie chose friends, accessories and professional careers like an astronaut and even president. But the one thing people seem to remember and talk about most is Barbie’s car choices.

Just because Barbie is a girl doesn’t mean she can’t have fun driving. Always keeping the Barbie spirit in mind, she’s partnered up with several auto brands throughout her 60-year history. First off, in the early ’60s, she drove an Austin-Healey 3000 MKII sports car and a Mercedes-Benz.

Be Like Barbie in a Sports Car from McLarty Daniel CDJR

Barbie ventured into off-roading in the ‘70s with several ATVs and even a dune buggy while on her many camping trips in her country camper. She eventually upgraded to a Volkswagen camper and even had a boat with a trailer she could use on the lake. If she preferred a beach getaway, she had the beach bus at her dispense with over 20 pieces of equipment that came with it.

Tow Your Boat Behind a Ram from McLarty Daniel Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram

The ‘80s is when we see Barbie’s partnership with Jeep begin. She hitches up her horse trailer to her 4WD Jeep for use in the Wild West. While the Jeep continued to be used for the dolls, it became so popular that people wanted to drive their own Barbie Jeep. Since Barbie is geared for children, the creators developed motorized, kid-friendly Jeep versions.

Barbie continued her love of Jeep over the years on animal safaris, beach parties and even mountain ski trips. Every Barbie girl needs her tunes, so eventually, a radio was introduced into the motorized Jeep that played cassette tapes. Most people consider their first vehicle the Barbie Jeep.

One favorite from the ‘90s was the Baywatch Lifeguard Rescue Jeep with the iconic yellow and red Baywatch logo on the side. Several versions of the Jeep have been released over the years, including a royal blue one with flowers and the Barbie logo on the hood. A purple Jeep with a white top and another red and black model debuted in the 2000s.

Barbie could give Vin Diesel a run for his money, considering the amount of fast and furious cars she’s driven over the years. But the one that stands out the most and that people keep coming back to is the iconic pink Barbie Jeep Wrangler, which continues to be the most popular choice today.

In 2021, Jeep debuted the closest thing to a real Barbie Jeep with the Tuscadero exterior paint color, described as a deep and intense chromatic magenta. Many were confused why it wasn’t Barbie pink instead. No answer was given, but pop culture aficionados quickly picked up that Tuscadero was a nod to Pinky Tuscadero, a character from the TV show Happy Days, who wore all pink and was a love interest for Henry Winkler’s popular character, The Fonz.

No matter where the color idea came from, it was popular enough that they brought it back for 2022 models. Yet to be seen again, the Barbie movie might be enough to get Jeep to bring it back one more time. Maybe this time, they’ll actually call it Barbie pink!

While we all wish we could be a Barbie girl in the Barbie world, you can pretend when you drive off the lot in your own ‘23 Jeep Wrangler from McLarty Daniel Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram off Moberly Lane in Bentonville. Serving Rogers, Fayetteville, Springdale, and all of Northwest Arkansas, McLarty Daniel CDJR has a car, truck, SUV or van ready for your Barbie world. Believe Barbie when she says, “Jeep life is fantastic.”

All good things must come to an end. But why? Well, there’s no clear answer as of yet. What we do know is that the 2023 model year of the Dodge Challenger and Charger will be the last. Commemorate the End of an Era with this Fun LEGO Challenger Set

Stellantis, which makes both the Challenger and Charger, announced last August that the current model line-up would end. Instead of unveiling a replacement, they kicked off a celebration of the sport sedan and sports car with 13 special editions, six of them paying homage to Dodge vehicles from the past. They also reintroduced past exterior colors and a special edition custom wrap with all 14 paint colors. Almost a year later, we’re all still left wondering what’s coming next.

The Challenger and Charger’s replacement will have big shoes to fill and an even bigger engine to replace. Either way, the auto market will have a void to fill until they replace these popular muscle cars. One rumor is that Dodge plans to replace both models with all-electric vehicles. Most would say you’re crazy if you think an EV muscle car is a good idea. Dodge has accepted the challenge.

The two-door Dodge Daytona SRT Concept, which is shaped similarly to the Challenger while harkening back to the vintage muscle car era, has been in the works for quite some time. We all know power comes from within, but you can’t have a muscle car without the power. So how is this all going to work? Dodge has a plan.

Debuting as the first eMuscle car, the Daytona SRT Concept features a new 800-volt, all-wheel drive that allows for faster charging and better cooling. It will surpass the Hellcat V8, which means it will be faster than the 797-horsepower Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye, which hits 60 mph in 3.5 seconds.

If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it must be a duck. Drivers aren’t so sure if that logic will work with a muscle car. Dodge lovers are very protective of their gas-powered, fast-and-furious, loud-engine speedsters. Where’s Vin Diesel when you need him? Instead of Vin Diesel, you’ll be calling up Vin Electric.

But Dodge has thought of that. To make sure drivers aren’t missing out on what they love about muscle cars, they’ve added those elements into eMuscle. For instance, you’ll still be able to shift gears and hear that loud exhaust. If EVs are the future, they can’t all be the same, and Dodge knows that. The American muscle brand is looking to stand out among the quieter EVs on the market…which is practically all of them

According to experts, Dodge plans to release the eMuscle car as early as 2024 but no official word has been given. Will the Daytona SRT drop “Concept” from its name to be the first official eMuscle car, or will we be surprised with a completely different model? For now, we’ll have to wait and see what Dodge cooks up in its EV oven. What we do know is that the future of car manufacturing will depend greatly on finding new and successful ways to make drivers excited about electric vehicles. Not only excited but willing to give up their gas-powered vehicles to purchase EVs. Part of the concern is finding charging stations and making sure the infrastructure is capable of handling mass amounts of electric vehicles. If they build it, they will drive it. That statement remains to be seen.
